Marwan Mohammed

  • Marwan Mohammed is a sociologist, CNRS researcher and member of the Centre Maurice Halbwachs in Paris. He taught sociology at Sciences Po Paris and ESSEC. His main research topics are social, urban, racism and racial inequalities, as well as delinquency and criminal justice. His current work focuses on collective violence, drug trafficking and organized crime. He is the author of numerous articles and books, particularly “Islamophobia in France. The Construction of the "Muslim Problem", written with Abdellali Hajjat. He has also long worked on urban revolts in working-class neighborhoods, writing and directing the documentary film "La tentation de l'émeute" (The Temptation of the Riot), broadcast in 2010 by the Franco-German channel ARTE (Morgane Production).
